Redefining the meaning of speed, the new S-Works Venge embodies our motto, aero is everything in everything from construction to performance we live and breathe aero, so should our bikes. This philosophy has never rung truer than with the new Venge, a whole eight seconds faster, and 460 grams lighter than the ViAS this is truly the ultimate aero machine.
Unlike the majority of our race-winning bikes, which see their inception in our prestigious Win Tunnel, the new S-Works Venge started life as a series of numbers. That's code that would later go on to create a brand new piece of technology, the FreeFoil Shape Library. Using a supercomputer and optimisation algorithm, we created a unique selection of airfoil shapes each specifically designed with different aspect ratios and different parts of the bike in mind. We then took these shapes to the Win Tunnel and made a variety of configurations before we landed on the ultimate aero bike the new S-Works Venge.
To test the mettle of our new aero machine, we compared it to the previous model the ViAS the 2019 S-Works Venge proving a whole eight seconds faster over 40km, a big gap in races where milliseconds are taken into account. Not only does the new Venge outperform in the Win Tunnel, it's also faster out on the road, whether gliding through a still breeze or blowing gale.
Enhanced aerodynamics isn't the only thing about the S-Works Venge that is redefining the meaning of speed a large weight saving of 460 grams creating a bike that is at home speeding on the flats, as it is at skipping up the climbs. We shaved weight from all areas of the bike, from the frame, to the fork, cockpit and even seat post no component was left unchecked. A lightweight bike is also a more responsive bike perfect for those punchy accelerations both up, down and on the flat this new Venge is the fastest option across all terrain.
By utilising Rider-First Engineered tubes, we were able shave a lot of this weight while ensuring the same, unbeatable ride quality across the wide array of available sizes. These tubes not only made the new Venge lighter, they also gave the bike a much higher stiffness-to-weight ratio and 40% more compliance than the ViAS creating an all-round aero bike that can produce instantaneous accelerations as well as eat-up all the roadside bumps.
The innovations on the frame's construction didn't stop there, the geometry also receiving a bit of a makeover. Using more than 40,000 Retl data points and lots of valuable pro rider input, we were able to implement our new Performance Road Geometry into the frame of the S-Works Venge. Combining a responsive front-end with a shorter, more compact wheelbase allows this bike to accelerate in an instant and maintain maximum power transfer through both the frame and pedals.
Without all the added features, the S-Works Tarmac would just be a lovely-looking frameset, hungry for some component company. We've given the frame what it needed, an integrated cockpit with road-tested bars that are faster, lighter and stiffer than ever before. The bars also feature a unique textured pattern on the tops for extra grip and control, without the need for bar tape.
Tyre clearance has also seen a redesign space to fit up to a 32mm-wide tyre for those longer, more gruelling days in the saddle. A Shimano A-Junction tops off the list of added features found in the seat post, this piece of kit makes it much easier to charge and check battery levels, as well as for team mechanics to make mid-race adjustments.
A Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 groupset complete with hydraulic disc brakes takes care of the shifting, while Roval CLX 64 Disc wheels dressed in 26mm Turbo Cotton tyres do the rest. Finished with S-Works Power cranks, the lightest and most accurate in the world.
